Dr. Melissa O’Toole joined Family Dentistry on Bay in 2011. Originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Melissa completed a Bachelor of Science degree at St FX University in Antigonish before heading to Dalhousie Dental School to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007. Upon completion of the degree, Melissa was accepted into the General Practice Residency Program through Western University, which focused on providing experience in all phases of inpatient and ambulatory dental care in a hospital setting at three of the affiliated teaching hospitals in London.

Dr O’Toole then spent the next three years in private practice in Southern Ontario while her husband, a Sault native, finished his orthodontic specialty at the University of Toronto before they moved to the Sault. Melissa is proud to be a part of the Family Dentistry on Bay team, where she is able to provide care for her patients in both the clinic on Bay Street and at the Sault Area Hospital, where she has maintained hospital privileges since 2011. Out of the office, Melissa enjoys running- both in training for races and to keep up with their two children, cross country skiing at the beautiful Hiawatha, exploring all that Sault Ste Marie has to offer but also making time to head back to Nova Scotia for her East Coast fix.
